I Realize

I realize the more I'm on twitter and facebook, the less I blog.

I'm gonna' work on getting back to my roots.

The roots of the blog that is.

Not my hair roots because as most all of you know I am on regimen of coloring the grays away every 6 weeks. This is the time of the year we add a few highlights back in and the sun does it's thing too.

I'll be back later/Wednesday with the intention of blogging like I used to.

Thanks for hanging in there with me while I went away for a little while.

Peace and Love Peeps.

Weekly Challenge #87

Is there someone in your life you've been meaning to call but have not done so for whatever reason?

This week I challenge you to find the time to pick up the phone, dial the digits, and re-connect.

You never know how much the simple act of doing so might mean to the person on the other end of the line.

Peace and Love Peeps.

Happy Heavenly Birthday Mom

It has been 5 years since you left us on this earth.

Not a day goes by in which I don't miss your physical presence.
Happy Heavenly Birthday. I love you.

Breaking Up is Hard to Do

Slick is no longer a part of my life.

I had to break up with him.

It was hard to do but when he refused to connect with my work's internal connection there was no choice.

I'm a girl with needs.

The need for her calendar, tasks, and memos.

He couldn't deliver so I kicked him back to the curb. Well, not exactly the curb, but back to the Sprint store he went.

I then went to get an iPhone and found out that I will have to wait as someone from my past - that I broke up with too - decided to mess with my credit standing with AT&T for at least another year.

The iPhone is not worth the extra money I would be shelling out. Doing so would require a deposit, purchase of the phone, and cancellation fee. I'll hang on to the money thank you very much.

An iPhone would be nice to have (very nice indeed) but not necessary so until then I've started a new relationship with another smartphone.

Meet Barry of the Curve 8330 variety.
One of these days I will sit down and read his instruction manual. Until then I will keep on pushing his buttons and hope he likes what I'm doing because so far, I'm liking what he is doing.

Peace and Love Peeps.

Weekly Challenge #86

Is there something you have been meaning to do but keep putting it off and off and off?

For me it is unpacking 3 suitcases I have/had tucked away in my living room.

Yes, each one contains clothes and shoes from previous trips.

This is the week I challenge you to put thought into action.

Peace and Love Peeps.

An Interesting Read

The latest book to grace my coffee table and nightstand is

It is quite interesting thus far but definitely not one I like to read before bed.

Speaking of reading before bed, I found a spelling error in Iris Johansen's latest book Deadlock last night. Stranger is not spelled stanger.

Maybe it is just me but I expect more from a New York bestselling author. Maybe I should call her publicist and tell 'em so they can have a talking to with the proofreading folks.

Whatcha' reading these days? I'm always on the lookout for a recommendation so please, DO TELL.

Peace and Love Peeps.

Meet Slick

After being on two waiting lists, dropping Big Red a few more times than necessary over the course of the last few days, and the P on my keyboard deciding to stop working, I finally picked up the new Palm Pre last night.

I'd like to introduce you to Slick.

I spent last night getting to know him. I have a feeling he and I will have more time getting to know one another in the coming days.

For now I am a giddy like a school girl when she sees the boy she likes on the playground. I like him but I also want to inflict a little bit of pain on him because he's not doing all the things I want him to do.

I am sure that will change in a matter of days but for now Slick and I have a love/hate affair going on.

I'm gonna make him see things my way.

Peace and Love Peeps.

Weekly Challenge #85

This week I challenge you to update your emergency contact numbers.

Make sure they are current. Share this information with your loved ones, employer, friends, etc.

Have a designated ICE in your phone.

ICE = In Case of Emergency

If you're like me and live out of state from your immediate family, be sure to designate a local contact who has all of your family's information and your family has theirs.

I also suggest you have your best friend's husband/wife/significant other's cell phone too just in case of an emergency or on the bright flip side, to plan a surprise.

These actions should only take a little bit of your time and hopefully will give you endless peace of mind.

Speaking of peace, Peace and Love Peeps.

Do You Twit?

Do you Twitter?

I do.

Pretty much all the time.

Random stuff. Stuff that makes me ME.

I tried to explain Twitter to some of the peeps at Thirsty Thursday last night and the concept was lost on them.

To me it's kinda like a text and micro blog as well as being very similar to a facebook status.

It's usually the innermost workings of my mind and what I'm doing or going to be doing.

Below is a sample of yesterday and today's Tweets, complete with misspellings and incorrect capitalization:

Calling Myself Out

A few weeks ago I went shopping for this season's summer clothes.

Not on purpose, or by design, I have worn the same dress the last few Saturdays.

Part of the wolf pack is referring to this as my Saturday dress.

I wear it with a white tank underneath because my girls would be on display for ALL to see otherwise.

This is the back view.

It is so comfy. So much so I have one in navy blue and white too, which I am wearing today with a white T underneath vs a tank. If other colors were in stock the day I bought these two, I might have gone with one striped and a solid one but hey stripes are fun and I'm gonna rock them all summer long.

The only downside is the length of mine is a little bit more than shown above. As a result, walking up and down stairs can be quite challenging from time to time.

If you're interested in having your very own Saturday dress, Old Navy can hook you up.

She's Spry

My baby's fur is starting to grow fully back in where she was shaved for her surgeries.

All of it is coming back in grey.

I figured as much since it was an area of trauma and such.

I like to refer to her as my silverback.

She also has this one stray grey whisker that appeared one day about two years ago. If you look at the right side of her mug in the picture you may be able to spot it.

Then it hit me tonight.

Google her cat to human year/age conversion.

According to this source, she is 72.

72

I say she's pretty spry for a senior citizen kitty.

I can't wait to see what happens if I give her a lion cut this summer.

Peace and Love Peeps.

Believe the Hype

Sunday afternoon some of the crew and I went to see "The Hangover".

All I can say is OH MY! It was so funny and full of comedic genius for the adult kids. I want to see it again and will definitely be adding this one to my small DVD collection.

If you want to laugh and don't mind some off color humor and language, I say hop in the car to your nearest movie theater.

I can't remember where I read this earlier today but I believe it: "The Hangover's debut was bigger than Wedding Crashers'. It was bigger than Superbad's. It was, in fact, bigger than all but 14 other R-rated movies—ever, per the stats at Box Office Mojo."

To my crew, I may start referring to us as the wolf pack. When we start doing the adult field trips this summer, I expect some of the same amount of fun minus the memory loss, drugs, breaking of the law, and losing one of us.

Peace and Love Peeps.

Weekly Challenge #84

I don't know about you but I feel regular, good old fashioned snail mail is becoming some what of a thing of the past these days.

Between email, facebook, twitter, texting, less and less of us are sending correspondence to those we love and cherish via the United States Post Office.

I know it may not be the greenest method of communication but it sure is a nice surprise to find a card, a postcard, a letter, etc. mixed in with the bills.

I challenge you to send something just because to someone you love this week.

Peace and Love Peeps.

That Time of the Year

Spring and summer mean more to me than warmer temperatures, flowers budding, and more daylight hours.

These seasons signal it is that time of the year in which I have my yearly physical. My yearly girly exam is done in January.

I usually take the week before the 4th of July and do this but I got a jump start on it this year and went in late May.

My blood pressure is great and my moles look fine with a bit of advice to try to avoid laying like a lizard as much this year and going forward. Labs were ordered to do a full blood work panel to check the cholesterol levels, vitamin D, thyroid, and some other stuff too.

Upon talking with the doctor about a few other concerns two procedures have been scheduled with specialists.

One is a sleep study in which during my consultation to determine if I needed one, I was told I have a very small mouth and extremely narrow nostrils. Oh happy, happy, joy, joy.

At dinner last night we took a look and the crew agrees. Who knew?

Sleep study here I come due to this and a few other factors discussed.

The other procedure is to address my regularity. Did you know 1-2 BMs a day is normal? Any less could signal constipation and any more than 3 means something is up and in need of checking.

Let me just say I have more than 3 a day so yours truly gets to have a colonoscopy in late July.

Good times y'all. Good times.

I'm not worried about the outcome of any of this. Both are things that need to be done and if things are found from the procedures and blood work, I will deal with whatever it is as it comes.

As I had four vials of blood drawn yesterday I realized all of this is part of the aging process and gave a big shout out to the late JC (Jesus Christ) for health insurance to make this all possible.

We're given one body and I am gonna' do what I can to take care of mine so I can live the best life possible and be there for the ones I love and that love me.

How about you? Are you taking care of yours? I hope you are but if no, and you have the means to do so, please make an appointment.

Peace and Love Peeps.

Small Pleasures

I like to color.

It is a small pleasure in my life.

A box of new crayons and a fresh coloring book make me giddy inside.

Coloring relaxes me. Makes me happy. Allows me to zone out.

It's been awhile since I had a coloring book and crayons to play with. I know it has been over a year for sure.

This Sunday I decided to change that. I picked these up at Wally World.
Feast your eyes upon the Crayola goodness.
This is just one box out of the 120 colors I can choose from. Ahh, the possibilities!

Who doesn't love the feel of a crayon in their hand? The soft wrapping? The feel of the wax as it glides over the page? The unmistakable smell that takes you back to a simpler time in your life?
My box of 120 came with a surprise inside and let me say, indeed it is a surprise. I have never seen a crayon sharpener quite like this one before.
Monday night I grabbed a glass of iced tea, went outside on my balcony, and as the wind chimes serenaded me, I got in touch with my inner child.

There is room at my table and plenty of crayons to share if ya' wanna join me one of these days.

Peace and Love Peeps.

I Heart This

From my twitter account I receive notification of new LOLCats via the icanhascheezburger.com website/rss feed.

They have other funnies other than cats too.

I like random funny things throughout the day. Keeps things rolling right along for me.

Earlier this week, this one came through and I couldn't stop laughing.

First off, when I do yoga at home Princess assumes this position more often than not.
Secondly, this is my favorite position as it really stretches my back and shoulders out. Sometimes she'll stretch with me or in those crazy mornings when she wants to play or needs attention, she will take up residence on my back and claim my body as her land.

Third, it is just too darn cute for words.

I hope you enjoyed it too.

Peace and Love Peeps.

Beautiful

It is almost too good to be true!
How are things where you are?
