Shopping w Ace & Life Changing Eye Update

Ok, another late update for you. I know I have been a bad girl. Work has been kicking my arse (still) and honestly when I get home, the last thing I want to do is log back onto a computer.

I've been spending a lot of time vegging. Me thinks it has to do with the weather and having the winter blues. The kitties and I have been spending countless hours curled up either in bed, on the couch, or in the favorite leather chair reading. This weekend I read three books alone.

Yes. I am a nerd. Nerds rock. Don't hate.

Today's late update? As the title indicates, shopping with Ace and the eye update.

I love shopping with Ace. It's become somewhat of a thing for us to hit up Ikea. This trip was more fruitful than the last visit. We actually filled up the basket.

Really. We did. See.

I stocked up on candles and Ace stocked up on bedroom stuff. I can never have enough candles. It's a necessity in my life. I'm a candle maniac. I'm borderline pyro. Recognize.

Shared with permission. Take chocolate to the scented candle section and what will he gravitate toward?

The watermelon scented candle. No joke folks. We had to take a picture and got a joke out of it.

Hey Ace, remind next time not to spend the extra cash on the scented Ikea candles. They smell delicious in the package but give off absolutely no smell at all when burning.

The Body Shop scented oils? Well, let's just say very fragrant but that is a combo I more than likely won't be doing in the future.

In case you're wondering peeps, I mixed the golden apple with the fireside. It is a very manly smell. It's not a bad smell. Just very masculine. I like a little bit more of a girly scent.

One of these days I will find just the right one scent. If you have any ideas to share, pass 'em along. I've tried the brown sugar and fig, the cinnamon, the pumpkin, the martini one from Bath and Body Works collection and I have yet to be satisfied.

Ok, so back to Ikea. Our tradition is slowing becoming a dinner like this.

Yum. $0.50 nitrates. Crunchy chips and coke. What beats an indulgence like that?

After Ikea we headed to the mall.

How many of you know about the Red campaign? I wanted to do my part and thought a tshirt was in order. So, I saunter over to the Red section in the Gap and decide I like the boy shirts better than the girl's selection. Come on. I live in the PacNW. I need me some long sleeve action right about now.

I settled in on this one. The pic is of the girl shirt so can you see why I'd go for the boy long sleeve one?

Now, when you see this for the first time do you read it like the word or do you, in your best southern accent, turn to your friend and say "Bow Red? What's that?"

Does your friend then turn to you and say, "I think it's for Bo Derek."

Do you then say "Bow Red" a few more times before it registers.

The shirt says BORED peeps. Bored.

Um, ok. We both suffered from a blonde moment. Cracked our shit up. I quickly added it to the jean purchase from the Gap.

After the Gap, we headed over to Lenscrafters, after a brief stop in A&F. I needed advice on which frames to get. You know you need a friend in your life that is going to tell you truthfully what looks good and this friend needs to have a sense of style too. Said friend for me is Ace.

We spent some time in there with my new friends, Julio and Jonathan.

Remember when I said ring it up baby? Well, I rang it up alright. Jonathan and Julio stayed late with us. It was like having my own personal shoppers. When all was said and done, I picked up three sunglasses and three pairs of RX glasses, one a pair of RX sunglasses and two frames for my blind self.

About $2400.00 worth spent. Now the reimbursement check needs to come back in. Ace is sporting one of the pairs of Chanel glasses I purchased in the above picture.

I'll take pictures of all the other glasses for you later but let's just say they are all Chanel and Bvlgari. Remember...I had money to spend.

The next day I went in for my eye exam and was promptly told I have to get out of glasses and back into gas perm contacts. Remember my buzz kill left cornea that was too thin for me to have Lasik? Well apparently it is something more serious. If I don't correct it by wearing the contacts, I could be looking at a cornea transplant situation in 5-10 years.

You can read more about the condition that affects me called keratoconus here www.trafficshaper.com/KC.html

The doctor was great with the diagnosis, helped to put me at ease, and took the time to answer all the questions I had. He also sent me to a specialist later in the week to make sure everything was truly ok before I get my lenses.

Everything is good. For now.

I call this my life changing event because for me, it is. This is pretty serious stuff. To know what I have going on is a relief (finally those halos make sense!)and to know I can deal with it is all good but honestly, I'm a tad shaken up.

There. I finally said it. Well, typed it. It's a big deal and it freaks me out. But I am going to do whatever I have to do to deal with it.

If that means getting back in contacts and out of the glasses, bring it on. The doctors assure me advances have been made with the gas perms in the last five years that will allow me comfort while wearing them for hours on end and traveling like I do.

If it means a transplant down the line, well...I will cross that bridge when I come to it.

For the time being, I'm just going to keep on keeping on...

I will keep your eyeballs in my prayers Mo.

And that was some serious cash spent. Glad you had fun though!

Thanks for explaining the shirt too...LOL, I wasn't getting it either.

Thanks Kimmy!

And is it wrong for me to be happy that someone else beside us didn't get the shirt at first?

Cuz if it is wrong, why do I feel so right? ;)
