Lazy Crazy Days of Summer

Farrah says Hey.

You say Ho.

Y'all remember that too or did I just date myself?

Anywho, yesterday was one of those summer days. You know what I am talking about right?

The lazy and crazy days of summer.

The ones where you chill by the water.

The ones where you go out to dinner because it takes too much effort and is way too hot to cook.

The ones where you have a night in with friends because you are exhausted from the heat.

We may not be in the 100s on this side of the mountain but we are definitely HOT, especially considering most all of us do not have AC in our homes.

So, how was the day spent?

I worked for most of the day and then took off to have an extended working lunch by the pool. Other peeps had the same idea and headed to a friend's house on the lake.

PSA for the lady on the lawn chair a few feet away: Thank you for letting me know, in your opinion, what a better choice of words would have been but did I ask you? You are more than entitled to your opinion but really? If you wanted to strike up a conversation a "Hello, sure is hot today isn't it?" or something to that effect would have sufficed. Butt out of my work conversations. That is all.

End result of being by the water?

BURN baby BURN

That there is Kyla. She who doesn't use sunscreen and will be tan by the end of the day.

This here is my imitation of a beached whale. I put the sunscreen on my back to the best of my ability but as you can see I missed some spots. How ya' like the bow tan line? Special huh?

My burn is almost completely gone. I will not be chancing it by the water today. There is always tomorrow in which I should either be on the lake in a boat or in Pete's backyard.

So after I finished up a few more hours of work, Kyla and I met up. We went to dinner at Qdoba...Yum-O. And um yes, in keeping with the Friday dinner tradition, we were both wearing white summer tops and khaki bottoms with gold sandals.

Post dinner it was time for a house party at Kyla's.

You know what goes with those right?

Seems like the rest of the city had the same idea. We hit up the local liquor store for da' goose about ten minutes before closing and poor Terry, the only clerk in the store, had a line of at least 20.

I kid you not. This town was thirsty.

We did determine that even though we dig the organic lemonade, Mr. Newman's drink does not mix so well with the goose for us.

Feeling yucky today. Headache. It is either back to the Minute Maid or trying out of the Simply Lemonade.

Rounded out the night by chilling at her place, watching Comedy Central (Mr. Cook DOES NOT have an unusual sized noggin...), and talking to Pete.

On the agenda today? Work, laundry, and trying to stay cool.

How about you? What do you have going on?

I so feel your pain, for you folks out west right now. Here in Florida we get those same temps, but absolutely everyone, everywhere you go -- even the poorest of the poor people in the ghettos -- have air conditioner that works. It's in our cars, our stores, every place of business.

I can't even imagine living through those temps with no a/c. Yikes.

Drink on. The Goose sounds fabulous, I haven't had that in a while. The organic lemonade was a good idea -- but maybe instead, head to a Whole Foods Market type of place and check out the juice aisle. I like the pear juice (the clear kind that looks like apple juice, not the cloudy stuff, ick). And also the pomegranate cherry-berry types of juices.

Hope it cools off for you guys soon!

Oooh, more choices than I might know what do with myself!

I love me some organic juice. Never had pear so that is going on the next shopping list for sure.
